Это был первый русский ресторан в Москве с отменной русской кухней и высоким уровнем обслуживания (персонал сюда тщательно отбирался, официантов набирали строго после 2-х летнего обучения в школе метродотелей, официантов, в советское время была такая, где ещё и английскому языку обучали в сфере обслуживания) А что сегодня? Школы никакой, официанты зачастую еле говорят по-русски!! В Славянский базар любили ходить как известные деятели культуры, так и простые наши граждане, а сколько было иностранных делегаций для дегустаций настоящей старой русской кухни! В ресторан была запись за месяц, если не больше, постоянные очереди у входа. Помимо кухни, истории создания ресторана и известных исторических, культурных событий, это был один из уникальных, красивейших, масштабных и сложных для того времени архитектурных проектов. Моя мама проработала в Славянском базаре 20 лет до последнего дня, до пожара 93го года. Очень очень жаль и просто ПОЗОР, что за столько лет! этот ресторан, который являлся объектом культурного наследия! так и не восстановлен, в то время как построено и перестроено много всего остального, не говоря уже об открытии несметного количества ресторанов в Москве, но подобного Славянскому базару с его историей, русской культурой, сохранившейся старорусской кухней, архитектурным масштабом и красотой, а также высоким уровнем обслуживания сегодня вряд ли можно найти. Очень надеюсь, что восстановят здание и вновь заживёт это место.

Просто приятные воспоминая об этом ресторане ещё до того момента, как он превратился в развалины. Свадьба моего сводного брата была здесь. Помню все до мельчайших подробностей, хотя была ещё девочкой. Красоту здания внутри и снаружи, и вкус отменных яств. Все было, как в сказке. Память сохранила красочные образы может потому, что это было ещё детство и все так хорошо запомнилось.
